Private Label Water Repellent Spray: An OEM Guide for Brands

private label water repellent spray — blank OEM spray bottles ready for branding

A private label water repellent spray lets a brand sell its own branded protector spray — for shoes, textiles, upholstery or outdoor gear — without formulating or manufacturing it. An OEM supplier fills, labels and packs the product to your specification, and you sell it under your own name. This guide covers how private-label OEM works, what to decide, and how to launch one.

New to spray products? Start with how spray-on water repellents work, then come back for the branding and OEM side.

How a private label water repellent spray works

The model is simple: you provide the brand and label design; the supplier provides the formula, fills the bottles, applies your label and packs the product. You receive finished, sellable units under your own brand — no lab, no filling line, no formulation work on your side, just the product decisions below.

What to decide before you order

  • Chemistry: fluorine-free C0 (water only, PFAS-free — best for textiles and a clean-label story) or C6 (water and oil — common for shoe and leather sprays). See C6 vs C0.
  • Carrier: water-based (safe, easy to ship) or solvent-based (faster dry, flammable). See spray-on water repellents.
  • Bottle & sprayer: trigger sprayer or fine-mist pump; a common size is 200–250 ml.
  • Volume: the order quantity, which drives unit cost and lead time.

Finished spray, or concentrate?

Most brands take the finished-product route — the supplier does everything and ships sellable units. If you have your own filling line, you can instead buy the concentrate and fill in-house. For a brand launching a retail product, finished OEM is almost always simpler.

MOQ, cost and keeping small runs viable

The catch for a first run is the minimum order quantity. Custom packaging — bespoke bottles and moulds — carries high MOQs, so the trick for a small launch is to use stock bottles and stock sprayers and customise only the label. That dodges the custom-packaging minimum while still giving you a fully branded product. Price the first run to land the account, then use volume price-breaks to grow.

Compliance, claims and shipping

To market the spray as PFAS-free, use a fluorine-free C0 formula and keep the claim honest. Ask for OEKO-TEX-compliant grades and a TDS/SDS for your records. And favour a non-aerosol pump — it ships internationally far more easily than a pressurised aerosol.

Steps to launch a private-label spray

  1. Choose the chemistry, carrier, bottle and size.
  2. Approve a sample of the finished spray.
  3. Finalise your label artwork.
  4. Confirm MOQ, price and lead time; place the order with a deposit.
  5. Production, then shipment of finished, labelled units.

Frequently asked questions

What is a private label water repellent spray?

A protector spray made by an OEM supplier and sold under your own brand — they formulate, fill, label and pack it, and you sell it.

What is the MOQ for a private label water repellent spray?

It varies, but you can keep a first run small by using stock bottles and sprayers and customising only the label.

Can I use my own brand and label?

Yes — that’s the point of private label. You supply the label artwork and the supplier applies it to the finished product.

Water-based or solvent-based for a private-label spray?

Water-based is safest and easiest to ship; solvent-based dries faster. Most consumer brands choose water-based.

Do you offer PFAS-free (fluorine-free) sprays?

Yes. A fluorine-free C0 formula lets you market the product honestly as PFAS-free.

Can I buy the concentrate and fill it myself?

Yes, if you have a filling line. Otherwise the finished-product OEM route is simpler.
